A Letter to the Younger You

Dear You ,

Let’s just say you are my hero so far. Not because you have done ‘out of this world things’ but just because you have kept focus on the race despite having done some of the dumbest things under the sun. You have been real but also made so many mistakes along the way. We all assumed the road would be straight but to your surprise it turned out to be the opposite. But you still walked anytime you did not have the strength to run. All the same none of us can change the past but we can create a new beginning anytime we want to! I have come to believe that being foolish is part of this life.  You cannot be too serious about life all the time. Either way no one has ever made it out alive! So don’t beat yourself too hard.

Nevertheless, if I met you a few years ago I would tell you not to let fear be a stumbling block to experiencing new things. Fear is universal and we all experience it. However, how we deal with fear determines how far we go.  Try new things however stupid they may be. You may be shocked how they turn out positive. Impress less people and you will realize they too pretend to like you. So don’t be fooled. Even Bill Gates has a few people who do not like him. Cross many more lines and step on many more toes. This could be the only thing you could do for yourself or somebody else out there for that matter. Imagine if you were not forced to do a few things you did not enjoy doing in life … where would you be today? So for that reason step on those damn toes!

The sky is the the limit, yes. But do not be such fool to believe all limits should be as far as the sky…Set a few close limits in some areas of your life. What do I mean? In this life, it doesn’t have to be your way all the time, but do not allow people to push you to the wall all the time either! It is just logical you cannot go through a wall alive. Speak up and tell them how much it hurts. It doesn’t matter whether it’s your friends, family or even your boss! They will understand. Don’t allow yourself to go through a wall with your damn mouth shut. Disclaimer I did not tell you to be arrogant but just don’t go through life painfully.

Stop and appreciate natural beauty it will lift your spirit and you will realize how much lucky you are. Do not just run the race. Sometimes stop.Watch the sun set, sunrise or a bird in its nest and you will realize Gods love for you. He provided beauty in the entire world just for you. Watch the rain fall and please do not miss on the beauty of a single rain drop and you will realize how much you have taken for-granted.

Lastly you are responsible for your own happiness. However much other people have caused pain or hurt to you, I want to tell you that you are fully responsible for it. Yes I insist that you are responsible for your own happiness. Do not keep grudges; otherwise you will die too young. For any small challenge you face, let it be a lesson well learnt and a motivator to your next level.  There are many other things I would tell you; but on a different day. But before then, develop a positive attitude, often say sorry, let go often, love and free yourself to be loved and most importantly you do not have to be right all the time, neither do you have to win all the battles. Sometimes allow yourself to lose for it could be the right thing to do at times.

Yours Truly,

YOU.

Dirty? Why not Just Clean it?

Gross? Not sure. It depends on how you look at it. But nevertheless chances are you are right. I had bought the cup anyway, so I had to try it. It felt like a first day of bikini waxing. A little awkward but then still curious enough to just want to go on. I believe in the menstrual cup, but let’s just say I will need some time to get used to it. So I went back to my tampons for a while. This time round I changed my brand from OB to Cotton. Believe me I am not the kind that promotes products. Unless it’s so irresistible. I found out that the Cottons tampons are only made from 100% natural cotton. Cottons tampons are also hypo-allergenic and biodegradable. Wish I had discovered this a little earlier. Nevertheless, now I know. So, I had to share the good news with someone. Who best fits than someone who has been forced to stick with you for more than 8 hours a day by a simple pay check? So I pull out a small well packed tampon box to show her. It did not bother me that I had some

Red Love Day

Valentine day, what is it? … mmmh … makes the two of us. I have been looking for the real meaning to it. All I have grasped over the past few years is that the day is red in color and it is celebrated by lovers. So I choose to call it a ‘Red Love day.’ There is an immeasurable distance between Love and Red Love; Life's greatest tragedy is that we get old too soon and never get to differentiate the two. But think again, they say it’s never too late to get back on track. Well, I do agree. But I choose to think it may depend on what took you off the track.... (Imagine the case of a fatal Accident; I can ass ure you chances are that you may never get back on track.) . But all the same don't we have survivors of such! In a few days time ‘Red Love day’ will be here with us and not to mention lots of expectations from lovers .The roses, candle lit dinner, chocolates …the very inevitable will be the Heart-Breaks. Consciously or unconsciously.... many of us have plans ready on how to m

NOT NOW...

[Photo Coutesy of Google.] So it is 5 th June, it’s summerish in New York I thin k. We touch down at JFK at 6:55am or about local time. Never mind I still call it JKIA every so often because that’s where I frequent most. I am excited and anxious at the same time. It’s been a 15hour flight and to be so sincere , I can’t feel my big toe. I just want to get out of this freaking big plane and breathe some fresh air. So I walk past the flight attendant at the exit door and in a small scared coarse voice I whisper to myself, “Welcome to America Village Girl.” I then walk behind this particular lady whom from a distance seems to be nice. She was seated across my wing in the flight, between a black old lady and a Mzungu guy. Everybody is walking very fast. Why on earth do people walk that fast after alighting from a plane? Let’s just assume most of them have connecting flights and the rest of us are just scared of being left behind. Deep within, I am sure this lady is going to help
