They all wish to lead and be the best in their class. The reality is, this may never happen for many rural based students due to many underlying factors like, poor policies, unqualified teachers, and lack of academic materials among others. In Kenya, the Kenya National Examination Council does not consider the background environment under which students are exposed! They just provide a standard examination to all Kenyan students either from public or private schools, rural based or urban based. These students are required to equally compete and obtained the highest score which will grant them a chance to join the best high schools or universities.   The Kenyan Government has done what any other government in the developing countries would actually do. But that does not mean we got it all toge...

Freedom is Priceless to the Extraordinary.

We can all be extraordinary! Today is 18 th July 2013 {Mandela’s birthday}. A true African inspiration .Anyone who listens to the South African song in the Sarafina sound track, ‘Freedom is coming tomorrow’ will agree that Mandela is a true inspiration. There is no limit to the love anyone can share, to the happiness one can inspire and to the peace anyone can bring. Born on 18 th July 1918, I am sure Mandela was an ordinary child who grew up to be very extraordinary. A long walk to freedom is what he can testify to today; 28 years in prison is quite a long time! Thinking about the pain we would cause our loved ones, visiting jail cells on a daily basis? I still don’t know and can’t comprehend. Coming back home, the Likes of Wangari Mathai , Boniface Mwangi , Josephine Kulea are some of the Kenyan heroes I admire ! I want to imagine the pain the...

Never invest more than you can ever afford to Lose.

Hold down your Guns! Yes.   Never invest more than you can ever afford to lose. I do understand the principle of investment but this principle does not always work in the absence of money. When it comes to relationships this principle flops desperately. And I strongly believe there are so many people who have been a victim of this.   Many speakers are experts not because they are genius in their area of expertise; but rather by the many mistakes they have made and the times they have been up and down. Disclaimer; I ain't an exception either .I have learned my share of lessons too.  God will always give you very dear people from family to friends in your life. Real friends in deed; very reliable people to embrace. This does not mean that you will not experience ‘Friends in Need’. They will always be around us. Just be keen to differentiate them. Any time you keep friends in need, you will lose more than you can afford to. Yes you will.   They may never be as ...

Father on Chistmas Day

FATHER on CHRISTMAS day. Christmas time is always special to so many people in the world. It is the time of the year when you get to see and merry with friends and loved ones. As usual I always love driving to my grandmother’s place. Shopping senselessly and buying everything I come across; either I need it or not (That’s why my love for January has never been real). So this Christmas was even better; I got a chance to drive home with a very special woman in my life. For a cool 1 .5 hour the ‘Matatu drivers’ in me was surpressed by the love of my passenger on board.  On our way home ,we passed by ‘Mzee’s’ home town to pick some fruits ; so I slowed down   and pulled off { wamama ...
